New Media Consumption
April 21, 3:30 p.m., Ballroom
Description: Despite prevalence of New Media in peoples lives, we still use traditional
forms of media to plug gaps in how we absorb information and news. Twitter, Facebook,
YouTube and other social media platforms are not displacing traditional media so much
as they are layered on top of broadcast and cable television and radio. How are these media
consumption trends blended together and reconfigured? How do we consider other emergent
technologies that will change the nature of reaching people: things like video to mobile or HD
radio? What about Flow TV and other streaming media to mobile technology? In the future, the
most successful programs will create an effective hybrid of new and old. WIll Robinson will present
data and case studies that point to the answers to these and other questions.
